Designed for the Porsche GT2 RS Clubsport

The GiroDisc A2-250 is specifically designed for the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport race car.

With high speeds, significant aerodynamic downforce, and repeated heavy braking, the GT2 RS Clubsport places substantial thermal demands on its rear braking system.

GiroDisc’s two-piece floating rotor construction is designed to accommodate these conditions while allowing the friction rings to be replaced independently of the aluminum center hats.

Two-Piece Floating Rotor Construction

Each rotor features a proprietary cast-iron friction ring mounted to a center hat machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum.

The floating mounting system uses 10 high-strength alloy-steel drive pins to transmit braking forces while permitting controlled axial and radial movement between the friction ring and hat.

The drive pins are secured with class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers. Anti-noise spring washers help minimize rattling when the rotors are cold while allowing the friction rings to expand during braking.

This arrangement helps maintain proper alignment between the rotors and brake pads as operating temperatures change.

Curved-Vane Internal Cooling

GiroDisc’s proprietary cast-iron friction rings incorporate curved internal cooling vanes.

As the rotor rotates, the vanes help move air through the internal passages, supporting heat management during repeated high-energy braking events.

This cooling design, combined with the floating mounting system, is suited to the demanding thermal cycles experienced in racing.

Slotted Racing Friction Surface

The GiroDisc A2-250 features a slotted friction surface intended for high-performance and competition brake pads.

The slots help maintain the pad-to-rotor interface during repeated braking cycles and provide an alternative to drilled friction surfaces.

Replace the Rings – Keep the Hats

One of the advantages of the GiroDisc two-piece rotor system is the ability to replace worn friction rings without purchasing another complete rotor assembly.

When the rings reach their replacement limit, the existing aluminum hats may be reused provided they remain serviceable.

GiroDisc D2-250 rear replacement rings are available separately for the A2-250 assemblies.

This allows race teams to replace the friction components while retaining their existing GiroDisc center hats.
