The GiroDisc A1-250 is engineered specifically for the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport.

This purpose-built race car places significant demands on its braking system during repeated high-speed braking events. GiroDisc’s two-piece rotor construction combines a durable cast-iron friction surface with a lightweight aluminum center hat to accommodate the thermal loads encountered in competition.

Two-Piece Floating Rotor Construction

Each rotor combines a GiroDisc proprietary cast-iron friction ring with a center hat machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum.

The floating mounting system uses 10 high-strength alloy-steel drive pins that transmit braking forces while allowing controlled axial and radial movement between the hat and friction ring.

The drive pins are secured using class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers. Anti-noise spring washers help reduce rattling when the rotors are cold while allowing the friction rings to expand as temperatures rise.

This floating arrangement helps the rotors maintain proper alignment with the brake pads during demanding racing conditions.

Curved-Vane Internal Cooling

GiroDisc uses a curved internal cooling-vane design developed for racing applications.

As the rotor rotates, the internal vanes act as a centrifugal pump, moving cooling air through the friction ring to help manage temperatures during repeated heavy braking.

Combined with the two-piece floating construction, this design supports consistent operation under the severe thermal cycling associated with track use.

Slotted Racing Friction Surface

The slotted cast-iron friction rings provide a braking surface suited to high-performance and competition brake pads.

The slots help maintain the pad-to-rotor interface under repeated braking loads and provide an alternative to drilled friction surfaces.

Replace the Rings – Keep the Hats

One of the major advantages of the GiroDisc system is long-term serviceability.

Once the friction rings reach their replacement limit, the aluminum center hats can be retained, provided they remain in serviceable condition.

GiroDisc D1-250 front replacement rings are available separately for the A1-250 rotor assemblies.

This allows race teams to replace worn friction rings without purchasing another complete set of aluminum hats.
