Your Porsche Clubsport or Cup cars air jack system is an integral part of your car that keeps your race day running smoothly. Allowing you to quickly raise and lower your car for minor maintenance, adjustments, and use of tire warmers. Cup cars and Clubsports leave the factory with their air jack systems ready to go but are useless without the proper nitrogen setup. Here at Demon Speed, we sell an entire kit that includes everything you need to operate your air jacks. This article will explain what each individual component of the kit is used for as well as some optional items to improve the efficiency of your nitrogen setup.
Core Components:
Nitrogen Bottle: Starting of with the core of your nitrogen system and the only item you will have to source somewhere other than Demon Speed. We get our nitrogen bottles from AirGas and recommend either an 80 cubic ft. or 125 cubic ft. bottle. This is the gas we will be using as the “air” in our air jacks because its a dry, inert gas that is easily stored at high pressure.
High Pressure Regulator: This does exactly as the name suggests, regulating the pressure that leaves the nitrogen tank and enters the hose. The regulator we provide is similar to a standard welding regulator except it is rated for about double the pressure. Air jack systems operate at around 300 PSI when lifting, our regulator is rated for 600 PSI which provides plenty of overhead for safety and reliability.
Nitrogen Hose and Fittings: The hose provides some distance and flexibility so you can easily maneuver your air jack lance to the valve on your car. We use a 25 ft. hose ourselves but also offer a 50 ft. hose for extra range. Our hose includes all the fittings you need to attach the hose to the regulator. It also includes a bleed valve to vent pressure from the system. We strongly recommend venting the system when not in use and storing unpressurized. When you select your lance type, you will receive the proper quick disconnect fitting for the lance for easy attachment to the hose.
Air Jack Lance: The air jack lance is the connection point to the valve fitted on your car. Our kit offers the choice of a Krontec or Staubli lance, depending on if you have a new or vintage Cup car. A swivel can also be added to allow for easier maneuvering of the lance while the hose is under pressure.
Optional Items:
Nitrogen Bottle Cart: A specially designed two wheeled cart made to securely and easily move your nitrogen bottle from the trailer to the pits or paddock. Nitrogen bottles are heavy and cumbersome to move around. Using a bottle cart makes it less of a chore to move your bottle and allows you to always have nitrogen where you need it.
Nitrogen Transfer Hose: A transfer hose allows for quick and easy transferring of nitrogen from a large bottle to a smaller one. We use ours to keep a large bottle of nitrogen at the shop, and transfer gas into a smaller bottle on our cart that we take to the track. Have the capacity of a large bottle in your trailer or shop and the mobility of a smaller bottle when you need to lift your car.
With all of the core components of a nitrogen kit you will be able to quickly and safely lift your car with its air jack system. At Demon Speed were dedicated to helping others with in the Porsche racing community. If you have any questions about the parts or operation of a nitrogen air jack system, reach out to us!
